Props and Costume

Props and Costume

Props:

Red Roses:
Image result for red roses

The boy is going to give these to the girl. I am using these to symbolise love. They will be used during the flashback scene.

Popcorn + Bowl:

I will be using this as a prop for the girl and boy to eat from and it will be part of their popcorn fight, which results in a cute couple scene, like something you'd see in films.

Make-Up:

Makeup will be used when the girl is getting ready to go out. Follows female stereotypes of women always wearing makeup.

Rugby Ball:

The boy will be playing/fidgeting with the rugby ball as a distraction. He's playing with it while waiting for a text from the girl. Also shows that he's sporty, following male stereotypes.

Note Pad and Pen:

The girl will be using a note pad and pen to be doing her homework while waiting for the boy to text her. It'll just be a background activity.

Phone:

The phone will be a main prop. The actors will use it to look back on photos of each other. They also use it to try text each other again. It plays a huge role in the video as its a representation of how they don't talk anymore and how they do miss each other.

Photos:

Photos will be used by both the girl and the boy. The girl will be taking them down from her mirror and ripping them and the boy will be taking them out of his frames and ripping them. Both will throw them in the bin, showing their breakup.

Frame:

A frame will be used by the boy to hold his photos in it.

Costume:

Boy:

For the boys main outfit I made him wear a bright red coat. I chose this bright red coat to represent the love between him and the girl while they were together and then he wears it again in the present tense split screen scenes to show how he still loves her. I also chose red as it's bright and he's my main artist so slightly more attention would be given to him as he'd stand out. The coat is also designer, which would appeal more to my middle class audience. I made him wear blue ripped jeans which looked expensive and then designer boots to show how he was of a higher class, this would appeal to my upper middle and middle class just like I wanted it to. Also, the young males from my target audience (16-25) may relate to the actor as they may wear similar clothing.

Girl:

I made the girl wear a plain black coat so that she didn't take too much attention away from the boy who's the main artist, I then paired it with plain blue jeans, a scarf and some plain white trainers. Both actors have a very casual style, however the girl is more plain. Her clothing isn't branded as I wanted her to represent a working class girl, so that some of my audience could relate. It's also just a typical teenage girl outfit, therefore my target audience which is aged 16-25 would be able to relate to her.
