First Draft of Music Video and Evaluation
This is the first draft of my music video. I filmed all my clips on my Canon 1300D in order to ensure that the quality was good enough to be exported onto YouTube. For my draft I was still learning how to put clips together. I learnt how to create a split screen effect for my present tense clips, in which the couple is broken up. I really liked this idea as it would allow me to show both actors side by side, giving me the opportunity to fit more footage into a 3 minute video. I then learnt how to insert clips to create the sequence of my video and I played around with cropping them until I was happy with how they looked. I started by putting my video together in a chronological order and then when the first verse comes on I change it to a flashback of when they were a happy couple, showing how they're both reminiscing the old times. Every time the chorus was sung I wanted the video to go back to the split screen to reflect the lyrics of 'we don't talk anymore', which is why my draft is full of black screens during the chorus as I hadn't got round to filming the remaining parts to fill those gaps, I wasn't sure that the split screen would work so I only filmed a few clips to put together as a tester. For my final video I will fill those gaps with more split screen clips of the couple during their breakup. In this draft there's a close up shot of the male actor walking, I'm thinking about re-filming that shot as it is extremely shaky, I tried using the stabiliser effect on Premier Pro, however that made it even worse looking so I took it off and left the original clip. For my final video I will either re-film it or replace it with a completely different shot. The draft also ends on a scene of the couple getting ready, so for my final video I'd need to ensure that I have an appropriate outro with closing credits. My draft doesn't contain any effects or editing, however for my final video I will defiantly include some sort of effects. I want the split screen scenes to be either black and white or to be a sad blue tone which would give the video a cinematic feel. I then want the flashback scenes to be bright and vibrant to create a juxtaposition between the present tense and the happy flashbacks. Also, during a section of the song there's an instrumental part, which I will need to crop in order to shorten the length of my video down to 3 minutes, so for my final I will have to play around with the audio in order to crop it in a way which won't make the song sound weird.
